With You

The figure visible in your rear view mirror who is driving just a little too close for your liking;

The group occupying the seats behind you on the bus;

They are all people you’ll likely never see again.

With roughly 8.2 billion of us alive right this second, that's not much of a surprise.

But somewhere along the way, I think we lost sight of something really important.

Forgot the fact that everyone is on their own voyage, alone.

Like ships in the night.

Just because attention wasn’t drawn to it doesn’t mean it isn’t true.

Life is like a long movie featuring many twists and turns.

The binding strands of its existence are far more fragile than we realise most of the time.

We ourselves don’t fare much better.

Full of plights, fumbles and anxieties. Failings.

They are make us who we are.

Masters of error and hypocrisy.

We are forever imperfect.

For as long as the coals still glow, we really shouldn't take ourselves too seriously.

Instead we should put each other before ourselves.

Love. Laugh. Live.

And rejoice in the beautifully imperfect energy of just being here.

We found each-other in the darkness.

And one day, it will all will be gone in the blink of an eye.

So let’s make this place sparkle whilst we’re still here.

Let go of hate. Speak openly about how we’re feeling.

Send unpleasantries to the bottom of the ocean.

When all is said and done, we only have one shot at this.

One.

Every occasion is unique, fleeting and will never repeat itself again.

So take a deep breath, compose yourself and be present.

This moment is everything.
